1) The poem is by Charles Bukowski, it's title is "The Laughing Heart".
2) The main theme for the poem is simply "Your Life is Your Life", The whole message is living your own life, making your own decisions, and ridding yourself from the distractions in life. The use of this poem in the corporation is ironic because its the opposite of the poem's true theme. The corporation is telling you that "Your Life is Your Life" but in order to do so you have to buy their merchandise.
3)The "Laughing Heart" truely reflectes Bukowski's views, He was a realist and his poem reflects the idea of doing what you want to do and making your own decisions.
4) When I was first was assighned the poem I looked it up on my smart phone. I then, used Google and found varies links I clicked on the first one but just found the poem and no background information, After, I clicked on the third link I found that Charles Bukowski was the author and in addition I also found the theme.
